Windows Server Engineer – Limerick

ICT Services are currently seeking a Desktop Support Engineer, working on one of our customer sites in Sligo. This is a full-time position working onsite with our customer.

Position description

ICT Services is currently looking for a Windows Server Engineer to work for one of our customers in Limerick. This is a full-time permanent role, to work for a leading biotechnology company with a very attractive compensation package.

The Windows Server Engineer will be responsible for the support, deployment, and maintenance of Windows server environments for our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background primarily in Windows server environments, and experience with Virtualisation platforms, server hardware, networking and security technologies. This is a hands-on technical role that requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy Windows server environments, including virtual servers, while liaising with storage and networking components/teams.
  • Work with Data Center Smart Hands technician to install and configure server hardware, software, and applications.
  • Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Active Directory User management including group memberships and file system security.
  • Working with SCCM and Certificate management.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to identify and implement improvements to the server infrastructure.
  • Apply documented system and security patches to ensure the security and stability of the environment
  • Manage VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
  • Implement and manage security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot network-related issues, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Windows server engineering or related role
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory, Group Policy, and security best practices
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi hosts
  • Knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking components
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
